The power of Touch.
by Elise Van Der Hoek.

Touch is our most intimate sense and
one of the oldest, simplest, and most powerful forms of
healing. We instinctively touch each other to show how
much we care for a person, we hold them when they need a
comforting cuddle, with love, and we will gently rub a
child’s head, hold hands, or put our arms around a
friend who needs solace. Research has shown that touch
is vitally important to well being: a person devoid of
any physical contact may even see a rapid decline in
their general health. |

Its small wonder then, that massage and
complimentary therapies are in demand. These various treatments
act as an additional and important weapon, in the arsenal that
helps in our battle against illness and disease.
More and more people are taking the time to
understand what is involved within the many therapies currently
available.
Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) originated in
Tibet and was developed in Japan during the late 1800’s by a
Japanese Doctor as a means of restoring the body’s vital
energies after they have become imbalanced. Reiki is a powerful
yet gentle method of natural healing and is helpful in healing
problems related to stress, tension, and emotional conditions as
well as respiratory problems. Reiki is one of those therapies
that have come under the spotlight during the past few years, as
more and more people come to understand that not everything that
goes amiss with the body, boils down to a specific instantly
diagnosable illness.
Practitioners of Reiki define the treatments
as one of ‘helping ‘and ‘healing’ with ‘helping’ always coming
first.
It’s all about redirecting and unlocking
trapped energy.
If for example your car has a flat battery
you’d use jump leads to give it a boost, the car battery
recognises it has energy and then starts to re charge itself,
this is basically the same principle as Reiki, but practitioners
use universal life force energy and send it through into the
other person to thus charge up their chakras.
The chakras are energy vortexes that everyone
has within them, this then filter the received energy into the
cells and organs of the body through the meridian system.
These energy lines are as intricate and as
well designed as the London Underground map, and are the exact
same meridians used in the practice of acupuncture.
So, what do you feel after a Reiki session?
The aim is to cleanse the body’s poisonous toxins, harmonise and
help heal the body and its widely recognised as being one of the
best de- stressing therapies as the treatment involves taking
the recipient to a ‘centre of perfect stillness’ to enter a
‘state of deep relaxation’.
Elise is delighted to be joining Evas Holiday

Her philosophy of life. ‘To give more than to
take, - the stronger should always help the weak and this has to
be done with true compassion.’ |
